Ne-Yo knows that keeping up with and understanding technology is a key to success in the future, This is why the R&B singer has committed to investing $2.3 million in the coding facility named Holberton School.
The aim of the new venture is to help students from underrepresented communities receive the chance to pursue a career in coding. Holberton works by allowing students to learning coding for free until you get your first job in coding. Once you are employed, you must give 17% of your salary for the next three years back to the school.
Coding is a major part of the future of technology and it's great to see celebrities like Ne-Yo giving back to help ensure anyone who wants the chance receives the opportunity to succeed in the businesses of the future.
Earlier this month, Nintendo announced the discontinuation of the extremely popular and hard to get NES Classic Edition, much to the dismay of fans. The revamped plug and play system was extremely hyped and very underproduced leaving fans with one of two options, either over pay on the secondary market or go without. While people are still disappointed that they may not get a chance to own the 8-bit system, there may be some good news on the way. Rumor has it that Nintendo will indeed release a SNES Classic Edition, or what ever name they decide to call it.
According to the folks at Eurogamer, the mini SNES system will be available in time for the 2017 Christmas season. It is also believed that this is the reason why Nintendo decided to stop production on the NES Classic. Hopefully the company will learn from the past and produce enough systems to better meet the demand for the new system.

If you are one of the many video game fans who have been waiting for the right opportunity to purchase the hard to find (at retail price anyways) NES Classic Edition, I'm afraid I have some bad news. Nintendo has announced that they have discontinued the hugely popular plug-and-play system.
What this means is that the last shipment will hit store this month. Once those supplies are sold out, it's done.
According to a statement from Nintendo, this was the plan all along. “NES Classic Edition wasn’t intended to be an ongoing, long-term product. However, due to high demand, we did add extra shipments to our original plans,” the company said.
Along with the discontinuation of the Classic NES Edition, Nintendo will be ending production on NES Classic Controller. The controller was also compatible with the Wii and Wii U.

When it comes to the 10 second video form of social media, many believe Snapchat is king. The service has been around longer than it's main competitor, Instagram Stories, and is widely popular. But according to the stats, Instagram is winning this race with almost 50 million more users.
According to the most recent numbers, Instagram stories users top the 200 million mark while Snapchat recently revealed that the have 158 million users. While this is quite impressive for Instagram Stories, especially considering it just debuted in August 2016, but the 200 million users are only 1/3 of Instagram's total user base. So even if Snapchat grows quite a bit in the future, Instagram already has 400 million users who are just a click away from using the Stories feature.
Even with the news of their dominance, Instagram Stories aren't simply resting on their laurels, the brand promises more improvements and features are on the way. That includes selfie stickers (so you can quickly put your face anywhere) and a quartet of new Geostickers. Chicago, London, Madrid and Tokyo have their own, and they'll be rolling out in the next few days. Oh, and if you wanted quick access to your most-used stickers the photo-minded social network, that's en route as well.
In an attempt to help out users who with slow connections, limited data and smaller memory, Twitter has launched a service called "Twitter Lite." It will provide users with a mobile-web experience instead of using a native application. What this means for users on slower networks or less powerful phones is they get the twitter experience with faster load times, less data usage and it takes up less space.
In a blog post, project manager Patrick Traughber explained that although 3.8 billion smartphones were in use in 2016, about 45% were connected on slower 2G networks. He explained that Twitter Lite requires less than 1 megabyte of devices’ memory, and it launches up to 30 percent faster than the flagship Twitter app, boasting speedier navigation, as well.
Available feature on Twitter Lite include the classic timeline, tweets, direct messages, trends, profiles, media uploads and notifications. It also has a data saver mode and additional features on Google Chrome and other Android browsers.
This move is similar to one their rival Facebook introduced in 2015. Facebook Lite, its stand-alone app for lower-end Android devices with poorer network connectivity. In February of this year, they announced that Facebook Lite topped 200 million monthly active users. Facebook also introduced a “slimmed-down” version of its Messenger app, Messenger Lite, last October, targeting the same user group.

McDonald's has always been a company that tries to be seen as one of the cool kids. You see evidence in their advertising as well as their menu changes as they always make attempts to keep up with the flavors of the month. Now McDonald's in Australia is proving just how cool they are by encouraging young people to apply for their jobs in a unique way, using Snapchat.
On Friday, McD's launched "Snaplications" in Australia. It comes in the form of a Snapchat lens, which shows the user in a McDonald's uniform and lets users apply for a job by sending a 10 second snap to the @Maccas account (Maccas is slang in Australia for McDonald's).
If a 10 second interview does seem like enough to determine if a job applicant will work out have no fear. After the user sends the "Snaplication" they will receive a link to fill out the more traditional online application.
As Snapchat grows in popularity, it only makes sense that companies would try to get the most out of the platform. Advertising on the social media app is already a major thing for companies, so it comes as no surprise that McDonald's would think to take this next step.
The job application lens is just the latest way the brand is using Snapchat. It's created a burger and fries lens in the past — a majority of the platform's four million or so Australian users engaged with it, according to Mark Wheeler, McDonald's digital director in Australia.
If users want to apply via Snapchat, they will only have today to do so, but it will be accessible past Friday via its Snapchat code. Wheeler said that if the trial is successful, they may experiment with the unusual hiring strategy again in the future.
Last year, the National Football League experimented by letting Twitter livestream 10 Thursday night games. This year, pro football will continue the test, but will switch it up: Amazon has bought the rights to the league’s streaming package, and will offer the games for free to its Amazon Prime subscribers around the world.
The deal is for one year and the pact is worth about $50 million, a major increase over Twitter’s rights deal last year.
The TV rights to the 10 Thursday Night Football games are split evenly between CBS and NBC, with the NFL Network cabler also getting simulcasts of the games. In early 2016, CBS and NBC inked a two-year deal for Thursday Night Football TV rights at an estimated cost of about $225 million for each network.
While this is the first major splash for Amazon in terms of live sports rights, the company has reportedly been interested in acquiring various packages over the past few months.

While Twitter’s 140-character limit remains intact, the social network is always trying new ways to get more out of those 140 characters, and Thursday’s update did just that, for replies at least.
Now, when you reply to another user’s tweet, that person’s username won’t count toward the 140-characters. This means you have more room to express yourself.
The character-limit tweaks were not the only changes made, Twitter also changed how replies look in its apps and on its site. Instead of including usernames in a tweet itself, they’re now listed above the tweet.
The move is mostly a good one as it means we can end those annoying ".@" starts to tweets, but it may get a little confusing when in a conversation with multiple people. In any case, at least you will have more characters to complain about it.
