Chicago is getting another music fest. The music fest will take place at Guaranteed Rate Field, the home park of the Chicago White Sox, on September 16th and will have an anti-violence theme.
The first annual Get IN It Music Fest will be an all-day event at the ballpark at 333 W. 35th St. and feature some huge names in music as well as some Chicago favorites. Headlining the fest will be Chicago's own Lupe Fiasco and rapper/activists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Joining them will be Fat Joe, Fifth Harmony, Jeremiah, Prince Royce, DNCE, Carl Thomas and Felix Da Housecat, among others.
The festival is being put together by by Get IN Chicago, an organization that counsels community-based groups and funds anti-violence initiatives focused on the most at-risk kids in the city. They are also being assisted by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, which runs the Guaranteed Rate Field.
While this won't be the first music fest hosted by the venue (they hosted last year's Magnificent Coloring Day, thrown by Chance The Rapper) this event will be the first time the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority has produced a show.
A portion of ticket sales will be donated to Get IN Chicago. Tickets range in price from $35 to $150 and will go on sale to the public Aug. 11 at Ticketmaster or at the fest's site.
