I guess greatness just runs in the family. When it come's to accolades, Jay-Z has gotten plenty. Awards, music sales, and all that money. Add is equally as talented (and maybe more popular) wife Beyonce to the equation and greatness goes off the charts. While we are at it, let's not forget that Solange is out there making music history on her own and even little Blue Ivy is a star in the making. No another person related to Hov is ready to be in the spotlight, Gloria Carter, Jay-Z's mom.
Gloria Carter will be honored at the GLAAD Media Awards. This announcement was made Friday morning (Jan. 19), as the award show centered around the inclusiveness of the LGBTQ community revealed that the song “Smile” from JAY-Z’s 4:44 album will receive special recognition. The track, which features a sample of Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s in Need of Love Today,” details Gloria’s coming-out story from the perspective of her son. “Smile” also features an original poem by Gloria Carter, which is heard at the end.
Congrats Ms. Carter!
