One of the most iconic American sports cars is getting a hybrid. Ford Motor Co. has announced that the Mustang Hybrid will be available in 2020.
The Mustang has long been known for it's power. The basic Mustang is already a force to reckon with, the GT model is a V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive beast, and the upcoming GT500 is promising to bring more than 700 horse-power with it's engine. Now the company is looking to make their classic muscle car embrace the trend to go green.
While the hybrid will be more efficient, it won't be boring, still catering to performance enthusiasts with "V8 levels of power and even more torque." The company hopes that this will unlock more of the Mustang's potential while also broadening its overall appeal. Ford is also looking to add an all-wheel drive and fully electric model in the near future.
