Erykah Badu, the soulful queen who has given us amazing hit songs like "Bag Lady", "Love Of My Life", and "On & On", wants to try out her talents on something new. She is contemplating hitting the stage as a stand-up comic.
During a stint on NPR's Tiny Desk, the singer explained that she has been giving the art form more thought recently. “I would hope. I want to,” Badu said when asked about getting into the new profession. “Michael Blackson always says, when you come to LA next time, you’re going to go on stage. Just do it. Just go do it and see. Just try it. So we’ll see. Let’s see if that’s my thing, one of my things. Could be. Could be not. We gotta see.”
While time will tell if Erykah makes the jump to comedy, we will soon find out if she has any comedy chops at all. The singer has reportedly landed a supporting role in the upcoming comedy What Men Want, which stars Taraji P. Henson. The film is a gender-flipped remake of the 2000 hit What Women Want (originally starring Mel Gibson).
