Monday was a historic day for cannabis and the FDA. For the first time in the departments history, the FDA has approved a cannabis-based drug.
The luck drug, Epidiolex, was recommended for approval by an advisory committee in April, and the agency had until this week to make a decision.
The twice-daily oral solution is approved for use in patients 2 and older to treat two types of epileptic syndromes: Dravet syndrome, a rare genetic dysfunction of the brain that begins in the first year of life, and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a form of epilepsy with multiple types of seizures that begin in early childhood, usually between 3 and 5.
The drug is the "first pharmaceutical formulation of highly-purified, plant-based cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabinoid lacking the high associated with marijuana, and the first in a new category of anti-epileptic drugs," according to a statement Monday from GW Pharmaceuticals, the UK-based biopharmaceutical company that makes Epidiolex.
Cannabidiol is one of more than 80 active cannabinoid chemicals, yet unlike tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, it does not produce a high.
The European Medical Society is also considering approval of Epidiolex and is expected to announce a decision in the first quarter of next year.
All season long, James Harden of the Houston Rockets has been working overtime to led his team to the promise land. He led the NBA in scoring, improved his defense, and help the Rockets get the best overall record in the regular season.
Everything was going Hardens way till his team met up with the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. Harden put up a good fight, winning many battles and even getting the upper hand. But after he suffered the loss of a valuable teammate in Chris Paul, he couldn't stop the Warriors and he lost in seven games.
That was then, but Monday night (June 25) at the NBA Awards, it wasn't about team, it was about the individual. While Harden much rather be wearing a championship ring, he got a nice piece of hardware that he will always be proud of. Harden has won his first NBA MVP Award.
Winning this year's award was no easy task. Harden had to beat top stars like Anthony Davis and LeBron James (who really is MVP every year).
Harden led the league in scoring with 30.4 points per game while guiding the Rockets to the NBA’s best regular-season record. He also averaged 8.8 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals while hitting 36.7 percent of his 3-point shots for a team that set the NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a single season.

It's been a good month for Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music crew. In June alone, we have seen albums from Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Nas and Kanye himself. Now with the month coming to and end, it's time for the spotlight to shine on the R&B side of Ye's label in the form of Teyana Taylor.
Taylor's album goes by K.T.S.E or Keep That Same Energy, Many people have noted that G.O.O.D. Music didn't exactly hype the album with the same intensity that her label mates got, but she did get the royal treatment with her release party. As for her album, many expect hers to be the best of them all.
You can judge for yourself by stream the album via Spotify below.
Fans of Tekashi 6ix9ine who were looking forward to his shows on Thursday and Friday got a bit of bad news. The rapper was forced to cancel both shows because of issues with immigration. Both Tekashi’s shows in London and Manchester, UK were cancelled for June 21 and June 22, respectively.
At this time it is still unknown what the issues were that cause United Kingdom officials to deny 6ix9ine's entry. The rapper is currently being investigated for his possible involvement in the Chief Keef shooting that took place in May 2018. Earlier that same month, Tekashi was wanted by police for allegedly choking a 16-year-old at a mall in Houston. UK policy says they can deny entry to anyone convicted of criminal offense but it is unclear if this is related to any of Tekashi's legal battles.
Venue organizers noted that the shows would either be rescheduled by a different promoter for another date or ticket holders would be refunded for their purchases.
