Rumour has it the Disney owned network ABC is trying to bring 'American Idol' to it's airwaves. Sources have told TMZ that ABC and Fremantle are in talks to bring the show back for a March 2018 debut. One thing that may derail the efforts is the location of the show. ABC wants newly signed 'Live' host, Ryan Seacrest, to continue hosting the talent show, so they have been asking if the show can relocate to New York City, his new home base. Sources has said that this is a non-starter for Fremantle, saying that the show is staying in LA.
At this time it doesn't seem like ABC has approached Seacrest about resuming his hosting duties on the talent show, but people close to him are saying he is fully committed to 'Live' and would likely not go back to 'Idol.'
Last month, TMZ broke the story that NBC and FOX were in a bidding war a few months ago to get the show, but Fremantle stopped negotiating because of squabbling with CORE, co-owner of 'A.I.' Now sources say Fremantle is going back to CORE to see if they can agree to negotiate with ABC, and go back to NBC and FOX.
