One of TV news’s breakout stars of the 2016 presidential election season is getting his own prime-time cable news show.
Van Jones, who serves as a political commentator for CNN and has hosted several town halls for the network this year, will have his own, twice-a-month show for the network. The Van Jones Show will debut in January 2018.
While this is certainly not Jones’ first stab at a CNN show—he joined a now-failed reboot of Crossfire in 2013—The Van Jones Show will be his first attempt at hosting his own live cable news program with an in-studio audience.
The Van Jones Show will focus, CNN says, on “the forces that elected Donald Trump, the anti-Trump ‘resistance’ movement and the future of both major parties.”
Jones will also host a new original documentary series that will examine on instances of “reconciliation, hope and redemption within the criminal justice system.” Citizen Jones, a production company, will collaborate with CNN on that program.
