Back in March of this year, Eddie Murphy's Twitter account tweeted what appeared to be a teaser for a possible sequel to Coming To America. Shortly after sending it, the entire account was deleted leaving many to wonder was Eddie hacked. When asked about the tweet, the comedian said he wasn't aware of it and had no plans of making a sequel.
Fast forward six months to September and we learn today (September 29) that there is indeed a Coming To America sequel coming, and Eddie Murphy may be involved.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that after 30 years the sequel is being made. Jonathan Levine was brought on as director with “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris rewriting the script. Eddie is said to be involved but it is unclear if a deal has been put in place for him to star in the movie. The idea of “Coming to America 2” had long been an idea over at Paramount, but it was only finalized this spring, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to play the iconic Laurie Strode in the “Halloween” franchise. Universal Pictures is planning to release what they are calling the final film in the "Halloween" franchise. The new movie is set for an Oct. 19, 2018 release date.
In the new movie, Curtis’ character will have a final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago. The new film will have quite a crew behind it. John Carpenter, who directed the original film, will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining leading horror producer Jason Blum, who’s behind “Get Out,” “Split,” and “The Purge” and “Paranormal Activity” franchises. David Gordon Green is directing from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride. Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner. Green’s directing credits include “Pineapple Express” and “Our Brand Is Crisis." Curtis also played Laurie Strode in “Halloween II” (1981), “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later” (1998) and “Halloween: Resurrection” (2002). She tweeted about her return on Friday.
Sunday night (September 10) the place to be was definitely Beverly Hills as the Beverly Hilton played host to an event 25 years in the making, the 25th Anniversary Show for Def Comedy Jam.
Def Comedy Jam 25 brought together many of the big stars that made the late night comedy show great. The guest list included Bill Bellamy, Dave Chappelle, D. L. Hughley, Cedric The Entertainer, Steve Harvey, Tiffany Haddish, Tracy Morgan, Martin Lawerence and more. Also a part of the show was the long running DJ for the series, Kid Capri. Executive producers Stan Lathan, Russell Simmons, Jesse Collins and Sandy Wernick were also present. The comedy event will available to view at home starting September 26 exclusively on Netflix.
Alert the presses! The beautiful Sanaa Lathan has chopped it all off, her hair that is! Before you start freaking out let me tell you she looks just as beautiful! She took to Instagram today to do the, in her words, “reveal”, mentioning how light she feels and captioned it with #nappilyeverafter.
Sanaa is best known for her roles in Brown sugar and Love & Basketball but a quick search of her IMDB page revealed that she is currently filming a movie titled the same as the # she used for captioning the photo. The shocking reveal is likely to drum up some, ahem, "buzz" about the movie. The movie will be a film adaptation of the book Nappily Ever After, written by Trisha Thomas where Sana is set to play the title character, Violet. According to Variety Magazine, the film will be featured on Netflix. Well Miss Sanaa Lathan, hair or no hair, you are looking just as beautiful as ever.
Congrats are in order for Saturday Night Live's Kenan Thompson. With the start of the 43rd season of the sketch comedy show, Thompson will become the series longest-running cast member. Thompson has been with the show for 14 years and will soon surpass Darrell Hammond who was with the show from 1995 to 2009.
Along with his SNL milestone, Kenan is working on a new show called Skoogle. The show will be based on the same premise as the show that introduced him to the world of entertainment, Nickelodeon's All That.
“We pitched it around so we’re trying to have someone make a deal for it. It’s still in the air, but it looks like it’s going to land pretty strong so we’ll find out what’s going on with that in the next couple weeks,” Kenan told CBS. “It’s going to be similar to ‘All That’: a bunch of sketches and musical guests." SNL’s season 43 premieres on Sept. 30 with guest host Ryan Gosling and performer JAY-Z.
